Systems make the world go round. True or false?

I would say true all the way!

If there is an issue inside your business operations it’s likely that it can be fixed with a system or better process.

If your team is flailing and making mistakes, I bet there is a system failure that is causing the headaches.

And if you are run off your feet – and not in a good way with an abundance of new business – your systems and processes could be causing you unnecessary stress.

The thing that we are not told about systems is that they equal money – and there could be lots of hidden money in your business if your systems are not set up properly.

For example, automatic sales. Recently I was reading a post on social media about a woman named Steph Taylor. She just had a $300,000 month by selling an automated web product.

Do you think she did all of that back-end work herself? No. She has systems and processes in place to help her get the most out of her business.

And, hence, more money.

You can do this too.

To do this, though, you need to follow a proven framework (or system), because it’s not just going to magically happen.

Today, I’m going to share that framework with you and the reasons why setting up your operational systems can help you find hidden money in your business.

The 7-step SYSTEMS checklist

S – set your boundary
Y – your business, your way
S – staging plan
T – time
E – empower your team
M – multiply yourself
S – stop procrastinating and start now

S – Set your boundaries: You have the authority, so set your own rules.
Boundaries give you so much clarity on your priorities, work structure, responsibilities and accountability, plus greater achievements and also feeling less stressed.

Y – Your business your way: Develop a unique selling proposition. Don’t worry about your competitors, just be yourself.

Understand your target market and don’t just copy what your competitors do. Understand who you want to serve, classify your clients into three categories: price shopper, value seeker or results oriented. Remember, there is enough work for everyone.

S – Staging planning: Don’t rush to implement everything at once. Break it down into manageable steps. Remember, every small success counts.

Don’t implement everything all at once, prioritise your current needs. Every solution shall be verified to ensure the result/outcome fits your business purpose. Review the solution periodically to maintain your service quality.

T – Time management: Be realistic with your time and know how much time and resources you need to reach your business goals.

Often I hear: “I don’t have enough time to work on XYZ”. See point above!

E – Empower your team: Train your team and empower them.

Show your appreciation, reward your team, recognise their efforts, trust them and give them opportunity to grow/develop their skills.

Show them how they can succeed when working with you. The more you empower your team, the more you thrive in business.

M – Multiply yourself: Set up your systems and processes to prepare for rapid growth and freedom of a business that runs without you.

Do you want to improve your quality of life? Earn more, but work less? Then you have to systematise and delegate your tasks to your team so you can have more time to work on revenue-generating activities.

Stop being a DIYer. If you want to leverage your business to the next level, start jotting down how and who you would like to have in your team to support you to reach your business goals.

S – Start today: Do something today that your future self will thank you for.

How to make systems a priority today in three simple steps

  • Don’t overcomplicate things, work out what you need and just keep it simple.
  • Inconsistencies in your processes can cause more work, time spent on reworking or duplication of work. Start with the area that’s giving you the biggest headache and sort out a simple system for it.
  • Talk to an expert, like me. You shouldn’t have to go this alone. Systems can make your life easier but they can also be daunting, so get the expert in to help you.

When you start to get systems in place, you will also start to exceed your clients’ expectations and they will be your biggest advocates.

Your business will get easier to manage and more influencers, partners and the right clients will start to notice you and want to work with you.
