It’s a place where you can record your goals, write down your vision, work out your priorities, resources you need and how you are going to implement them for each business function.

There are 7 distinct areas to work through in this Strategic Planning Template.
Mission
Why does your business exist? Your mission is important in the grand scheme of your business because it lets you know if you’re on track. However, it may change. So look at your mission statement again. Is it still the same or has it changed and evolved?
Vision
What are you in business to do? What’s your long-term vision? Your why? This is the statement you come back to when you need a pick-me-up and reminder of what you are achieving and working towards each day. Is your vision still the same or has it evolved as you have?
Values
Understanding and knowing your business values allows you to work with people who have the same values as you do. This relates to clients, team members, contractors, partners and, yes, even your OBM! Have you updated your values recently? Maybe now is the perfect time.
Focus
What’s the main area you want to concentrate on to move the needle in the right direction for you? Then keep what’s working and get an OBM to streamline what’s not working.
Goals
Forecast your goals next year based on your past 11 months of historical data. Are your goals realistic? What resources do you need to achieve your goals? Resources include software, apps, programs, a coach, team members, funding and so on.
KPIs
How will you know if you have reached your goals? Key Performance Indicators! How do you currently measure your results? For example, a KPI for an ad might be social media inquiries or website clicks. If you don’t have KPIs in place, there’s never been a better time!
Priorities
What are you working on this quarter? What projects will you implement or finish, what team members will you put on, how many sales will you get, and so on. This section is personal in nature to your business and might differ to others.
Responsibility – The ultimate accountable person to meet the KPIs to achieve this priority and ultimate goal.
Implementation – How this will be accomplished. This section will help you consider the resources you need or improvements to the current process.
HOT TIP: Break down your goals into quarters so you don’t have to wait for the next 12 months to see your results. Quarterly goals enable you to keep your motivation and give you a chance to celebrate your wins and tweak what isn’t working each quarter.
